Can anyone give me any info on Kunnan rods? I have a 5'3" Advantage M/L action which I have a Penn 4200 w/ 6 lb. mono on and use it for jigging for Trout from the piers with a plastic bait as well as a 12' surf rod M/H acton w/ a Penn 8500 spooled with 30 lb. mono. I heard that these rods are not made anymore because the factory burned some years back. Were/are they a low-mid-high priced rod, and it seems to me that the quality on my two is excellent. Any and all info/comments will be appreciated. THANKS!

Fox, you have 2 gems in your hands. Heard the same story of the fire in CA. These rods were not cheap in their time. Fit and finish were better than most custom made rods. West coast or fast tips were the norm, I've got a 7ft popping and a 20 to 50lb stand up all graphite and would give away my best Lami instead of one on these. I just got back from your neck of the woods in NC and these rods have quite a following for Kings, the charter captain had his eye on mine. Best off the shelf rod you could ever buy! Wanna sell yours? Prospector

Kunan

Kunan had two factories, one for rods and the other for golf shafts, the rod factory burnt down as was stated and it was their decision not to invest in rebuilding, they were one of the first companies to use all Fuji components on their upper end rods, the tournament angler was very popular in Florida and really sold at a good price considering the components used. They did later manufacture some low end models also that were no where near the quality of the earlier ones, a great rod one of the few worth rebuilding in that cost area.
