As I sit at the computer typing this post, I thank the good Lord that I am able to do so. Last Friday, Feb 28, I went to the doctor because I had been experiencing some shortness of breath and a burning in my lungs when I exerted myself outside. when I did my normal gym routine inside I was fine so I thought it was probably just some respitory infection aggrevated by the cold. The doctor (actually the nurse with out even asking the doctor) decided to do an EKG. Well, the doctor compared it to an EKG from about 6 weeks earier when I was in for an anual physical, and didn't like what he saw. He had my wife come and take me directly to Stonybrook Uninversity. To make an already long story a little shorter, the doctors determined that I had a mild heart attack. They performed an Angiogram and found I had one artery that was 100% blocked and another that was 70%. They were able to use stenths to correct both and thankfully they damage to my heart was minimal.
So , why am I posting this? One reason is that in a strange way it feels good to journal it. More importantly though, IF YOU HAVE ANY TYPE OF CHEST PAINS, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, GET IT CHECKED OUT IMMEDIATELY!!!! I shudder to think what may have happened if I didn't go to the doctor. Finally, to all the young guys out there, I'm 42 years old, try to get to the gym 3 times a week, and probably eat more heatlthy that most people. It can happen to anyone!
