Anyone know a spot to catch Kingfish in the Freeport Merrick area? How would one rig for them? What sort of habitat do they favor? Just caught one in a river mouth off GSB. Nice fight, good eating.

not a very common fish to LI but i have caught them in deeper holes in moriches a few years ago.

ive never targeted nor caught but i seem to remember reading that mary's hole in freeport off long creek by bay of fundy holds some k-fish. g.

Try the copaigue hole, you will need 2 anchor up & chum. They sure are tasty
