Like most of you guys I fish allot. I have a 3 1/2 year old son that I love to take fishing when I can during the day. Problem is I do most of fishing at night and therefore about 4 nights a weeks I don?t make it to see him before he goes to bed. Lately my son hates fishing because he equates it with my absence. I think my fishing addiction is the best gift I can pass down to him but at the rate things are going he's going to hate it. What do you guys think??? Please leave out the idea of me fishing less. Thank you.

I think your question is similar to saying "Hey, I want to lose weight but I eat too much. What can I do to lose weight? Please don't tell me to eat less."

Reality is we all make choices. I was lucky enough not to buy my current boat until my daughter was 5, so she was able to be part of it from the beginning. I too go through cycles when the fishing is hot and we're out allot, but I still have to set time to spend with my family. She'll only be a little girl once! Fishing I can do for the rest of my life. You might want to look for a little "balance".

Best of luck!

Gail...Excellent point what Scott said, We as Dads went thru this.

Now my son is 9, more independent and comes out with me on occasion fishing and crabbing from the docks - he loves it.

You are most welcome to join us at a Nassau county to share in the fun.
It also has a great playground, sprinklers, picnic area with bbq pits and tables and clean Bathrooms.

Pm me.

Just wait a year or two and he'll love it. And fish more during the day and bring him along. He'll love playing with any live bait you have, collecting shells, etc. etc. So you may not catch as many fish, so what?

He's 3 1/2 and taking him fishinh is a couple years off, so you are going to have to spend more time with him and less time fishing. Two nights a week of fishing fishing is a small price to pay. He's never going to be this age and this innocent again. Grab every minute with him that you can. When he's 18 and off with his friends all the time you'll wish for one more day when you were the most important thing in his life, but it will not happen. So put down the rod and pick up your son.

15 years from now you will thank me.

It's all been said

So I hope you do it

I don't have much time to fish right now, but when I do( even) 12 on a sat. afternoon0 I bring the kids, catching a blue, robin or skate with them is great.Better than bringing home a bass I caught all alone in the middle of the night

three and a half is the same age as my grandson and we have had him fishing since he was two and a half. He gets a big kick out of it. He caught his first legal fluke and scup last year and so far this year he has been wailing away ont he alrgemouth bass (with his Dad's help). So take him with you and fish more during the day. What you loos in fish you'll more than make up for in time spent with you little man.
