Keepalive aerator system - small fish scales

I have a tank and was looking at the Keepalive aerator system on the web. My question is how does this system work with lots of fish scales in the tank. I tried just a rule pump but the small fish scales from penut bunker get caught in the intake pump and clog the whole system. Does the Keepalive system block the small scales form getting cloged? Thanks, Tom

The pump on the keep alive is elevated off the bottom and has a foam screen around it. I loaded it up with peanut bunker and didn't have scale problems. I think the insulated model would be better than the non insulated model. I have the non-insulated, but I am using a thru hull fitting to supply constant water.
