Jones Inlet was like a big, sleeping dog on Tuesday. Quiet. No birds, no baitfish.
About six anglers tossing lures and clams, nothing. I picked up a small skate on clams at the end of the flood tide.
I'm sure Jones Inlet will wake up with a barking fury when those Macks arrive. Last report I read was there were still 60 miles south of Jones Inlet. Big tiderunner weakfish are swimming along with schools of bluefish pushing those Macks up north.
Any day now, the silence is going to break. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe the weekend.
