For those of you who post reports about fishing the bridges in the surrounding area of Jones beach do you get hassled when you park off the side of the road?

Definitely yes!! Not a good idea. It's a very costly ticket and may require a court appearance. Or you might just get towed. Best bet is have someone drop you off and don't fish from the bridge!

The "Green Island" which is accessed by driving through the far right toll booth on the Wantaugh Parkway (NY State permit needed) promised to be a great boon for fisherman. However, it seems to be closed right now and no one seems to know when it will open. On the Meadowbrook there is a small parking lot in the center median of the parkway. It is a good walk to the bridges and I am always dodging people running across the highway. Be careful. It is much easier to goto WEST END II. But please don't litter.

Anyone know if it's illegal to park in the middle lot on the meadowbrook parkway between the first and second bridges. The sign says emergency parking, but I see cars there all the time.
