Did a ling trip out of Brielle today. We fished near one pot that was loaded with grasshoppers. Not worth keeping as they were all 12"-14" but they liked a 3/8oz spro. Was just about to liveline one to see if a wahoo or white followed them in, but we moved. Also had a medium ling and a nice winter flounder on a 6oz hammered diamond jig in the Farms area.

They are a lot of fun to catch on poppers too. A lot of times when they won't bite other lures, or even bait, they'll hit a popper dragged over them. And they fly out of the water with it a lot of times.

Chris, it should be fun to catch mahi on poppers.
I am going to bring popping rods whenever I go offshore tuna trips.

Kil,

I have a light Trevalla rod with a Cabo 30 that I bring along for mahi and squid that has worked very well.
