JET MIDI LATHE FOR CHRISTMAS!!

ALL THESE AWESOME PLUGS OUT THERE YOU GUYS ARE MAKING GAVE ME AN ITCH AND GOT MY FATHER TO GET ME THE JET MIDI LATHE FOR CHRISTMAS ALONG WITH A NICE SET OF CHISELS AND ALL THE FIX INS!! NOW IT IS TIME TO START!

Any start up suggestions like easiest wood to learn on and so on?

Dy-na-mite!!!Great news on the lathe....go for it. Suggest cedar...alaskan yellow if you can find it, but anything you can come up with is fine...soft, easier to work, durable and forgiving (some woods splinter if you're not careful or make a mistake)...cedar is good stuff to work with and stands up to the salt water real well. Good luck with it....

I've noticed the same thing, Neil...the older I get the tougher they make picklejar tops to open...can't figure out why.;)
