Could only get out for a couple of hours, and far later than I would have liked - I passed the fly guides coming back off the water as I was headed out at 10AM. You get what you can take! Incoming tide all morning. Water temp was still reading sub 52 - I wonder if my thermo isn't working. Seemed like it had to be warmer. Water was incredibly clear - I could see a good five feet below the dock at the marina. Headed back to the airport. Lots of bunker, but pretty spread out, and way too happy. Didn't see anything on them. Marked some fish in the usual spots, but couldn't get an eat, and from the look of it, no one else could either. I'm sure they were eating before 9AM..... Decided to make a quick run outside. I wanted bass, but I would settle for a pull, and it sounded like the blues were already in thick around Breezy. Nothing along the beaches as I headed east 5 miles. On my way back in, I found small pods of gulls working bait. Managed to get into some 6-7 lbs. blues on the fly. Very visual due to the water clarity. They were darting all around the boat, and were very aggressive with the fly. <like href="http://www.noreast.com/postedreports/view.cfm?id=147859" send="false" show_faces="false" width='layout="button_count"'></like> Coney Island Blues |
