"According to several sources with knowledge of the situation, the Jets will inform the Redskins today that they'll match the five-year, $7.95 million offer sheet that included a $2.5 million signing bonus given to Morton so that he remains a Jet."

Keep Morton, let LC go. Waaaaay too much $$$ for Coles. Just me.

btw... I'm posting these sporting threads because..... I'M SO SICK OF READING ABOUT THIS DEPRESSING TERRORISM SH*T in the news EVERYDAY! Let's get this sh*t over with, one way or another. Nuke'em, Duke'em, Leave'em - whatever, let's just do it.

Hey, ADDICT - A Mets AND Jets fan? That makes us like abused brothers, man! :)

We love having our seasons destroyed by fate, and then come back next season for more! That's OK, it makes the occasional championship all that sweeter!

Same here, who needs Coles at that price? Let's see how well he does without Pennington. This opens up the Jets draft for some better defense.

I just hope Chad can prove that he can come up big under pressure - that is a big question mark.

used and abused...lol

Too bad I can't say I'm a diehard Nets fan. It would complete the "ets" trifecta. :)

At times, it's depressing to be a Met/Jet fan, but I agree, the occassionaly championship is sweeter this way. A championship every ten years (or so) would still be nice. LOL

Who is QB at washington next yr? I don't even know. But I wish good things for LC. I certainly appreciated his efforts last year. This is a business, so if I was in his shoes....LOL - I too would love washington.

Chad P? I think he's definatley a keeper. He impressed me last year. He showed more last year than most vet QBs. I think we'll be fine.

I hear ya, PARTYBOATER. I hope they find some decent relacements.

Tell ya the truth, I'm glad to see John Hall go. I don't know what happened to him!

He used to kickoff to the back of the end zone...last year he had problems reaching the 15 yard line!

I didn't know about Thomas.........you mean Bryan Thomas???

Hope for the best...

I'm not worried with the JETS management doing the right thing. Hopefully Terry and Herm have a contingency plan. Either way, I still don't think LC is worth it. Better to free up $$ and go shopping.

At least Morton is re-signed.

Bottom- Randy Thomas was the first to go as an unrestricted free agent . BIG loss- up and coming guard- Washington paid him big money!
I also don't mind so much about Hall and Turk either. The only issue may be with so many new players and how long it takes for them to get used to each other (especially on the O-line).

Morton out LC in?

Read there's some dispute over Chad Morton and LC's contracts. Bottom line? SLIM chance, but LC's contract MIGHT be matched by the jets and Morton's contract matched by the jets MIGHT be overturned and he goes to Wash.

How the world turns...LOL

Todays papers indicate that the JETS are going to let Coles go. As much as I like him as a player, they had to let him go. If they had to match the STUPID $$$ that Washington threw at him it would have caused problems signing Chad and John Abraham next year. They can pick up a vet like Conway and they now have the 13 and 22 picks this year to get a true franchise WR.

Personally I think Coles is going to be tough to replace, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'm sure they have a plan in place, and I remember the last time a wide receiver left New York we ended up with 4 starters including Coles so hopefully they can pull it off again.

I was never his biggest fan, but I think jets could get Kewshawn Johnson back. A big tall guy that can get off his feet to catch the ball would be a perfect gift for Pennington. When the clamps were put on the Jets small speedy guys like Coles last year Pennington struggled as pinpoint passes do not work in a crowd of defenders with a small receiver. With a receiver like Johnson its a much easier pass to complete. It would be tough listening to Johnson run his mouth though, but it would be worth the extra 7-10 points a game that the offense should be generate with him there.

Losing Coles will hurt Pennington more than anything. When he needed something to happen, he was confidant in Coles and the 2 together made each other stars (semi-stars)

As for getting back Keyshawn, NO WAY. Anyone who doesn't want to be here, shouln't be here, nor should we want him. That type of player, size/athletic-wise, yes the Jets need. His attitude (once they start losing, he will want out), let him stay in Tampa.

I didn't think Hall was all that bad, considering what I've seen elsewhere. Yeah, when he first came up, he for whatever reason, kick further, but I think he was fairly consistant. I don't have his stats, but how did he fare %wise under 50 yards with the rest of the league?

I went and checked Hall's stats, FG's only. He's pretty much smack in the center of the NFL.To be honest, beside the first 7 or 8 guys, the majority of the guys had the same stats/were very close. Hope whoever they get doen't foul everything up. NY is a TOUGH place to play.

QB, RB, now Suggs fails physi...not a good start.

Hope EM can pull one out of his unproven arse this year, looks like he's got his work cut out for him.

But look on the bright side, we've got Ramsey!

Jokes aside...

Another year and another disapointment I reckon. You would think after close to 40 years I would have learned by now.

What can we say, the running game is in the crapper and the quarterback is one medium strength sack away from the disabled list. At least we can root for a few pancake blocks from their new first round draftee.

When does the 2006 season end again?
