I hope.Nov.1st.many boats have to be out of the slips.Last night was a zoo in moriches inlet, nearly 40 boats.
I'm sorry but I've delt with the **** boats all season now its our turn.Pullem out guy's,see ya next season.
There are alot of boaters that have some courtesy,& I respect them for that, thank you,you know who you are.But for the other yahoos that drift right up in front of the jetty, start up & pull away right on top of one of the best spots in the inlet, your time is over.I shind my lite right at 5 boats last night that were no more than 100ft.off the jetty. Why do you drive your boat right back through were you are drifting?Just pure stupidity.
Bye.Its our time to do our thing.

Any one else have anything else to say to the idiots out there.

Well, I have no problem holding up my cast for 30 seconds or so while a well-lit boater drifts by. It's a free country and they have as much right to drop an eel or bucktail into that hole as we do.

Now, the guys who run wide open between the drifting boat and the rocks are another story--and I agree, there's no reason they have to kick the motor over and run right back over the course they just drifted--they can easily run out into the inlet and double back to the spot they start their drift. Unfortunately, the only thing you need to run a boat in this country is money.

Then there's the guys who cut the corner of the jetty when running back in from outside :(

Jim, you should be so lucky! Years ago that time frame held true but now a days it doesn't. Let's see now Jim to the chargrin of everyone who has a boat or others that think it's OK to run over someones line cause the water belongs to everyone. Calculate your losses over the year to idiots? How many bucktails, swimming plugs, or how bout that new metal lip Jim? That's not even considering how many fish they put down running over them! There are many boat guys that are considerate but they are a small minority as are the ever growing number of idiots fishing on the jetties themselves. Progress? I'll willing to bet there's a 90% idiot factor on both sides so let's call a spade a spade. Prospector

Windcatcher, that is the only way out east from the inlet. Otherwise you have to go way out on a South heading and around. I know its aggravating, but that is one area where the jetty guys have to make a consession.

JPF, the guys who run over the spots annoy the boat fisherman just as much. Since I do both, I try to have respect for both. I stay outside of the casters and cast into an area. We can all share if done right.

I hate when I am working a rip from the beach on the backside of Cupsogue to have some jerk come trolling along 30 yards off the beach. I also hate when boats are around a bunker pod casting into it to snag their bait and then some jerk comes running full bore into the pod and stops to snag one before they all go down, ruining it for everyone else.

Where I fish on the North Shore, guys drifting the channel often run up on the side that the surfcasters are working instead of going to the far side and they run right over where they are fishing. I guess because they are drifting worms the bass don't seem to mind staying deep, but it ruins it for us.

A little courtesy could go a long way, but people are always so concerned with "ME" these days.

Consideration, plain and simple

Funny I have been thinking the same thing and I mostly fish from my boat. I feel your pain. I cant wait for some of the boats to be pulled. I try to respect most of your surf rats as well, I cant tell you how many times I have been in your position. I will say this I was out yesterday and there are still a LOT of boats left in the water more so than years prior. We may have to deal with it for a few more weeks. But I too am counting the days....

You all know what I am talking about.

Thanxs all for your response.
I'm so glad its been windy & nasty every weekend for the last month, orelse it would be worse.Prospector I lost count on how much $$$$$ has been lost to boats.Sometimes they piss me off so bad,I get frusturated,& loose all concentration, especially when my confidence level is running so high, due to having fish in my spot the night before,& a boat comes along & ruins it all.

I just have one word for the boaters that read this, its all about RESPECT.what comes around goes around.
I know the guy's doing this read this site,so come on guy's,give us a break.
You should'nt even be fishing the inlet, the fish are all on the outside bar,how do I know??because thats were the majority of my boat fish have been caught the last 3 weeks, yes I'm a boater also, but I love the surf more.

Now that guy has to be a bait fisherman. Let's see if anyone takes it. :)

Who said, "Why can't we just all get along?" Rodney King??? I guess he wasn't a fisherman.

Seriously, I fish both surf, and boat and understand what you are talking about. I have never found it to be a big deal however when boats make close passes when I am fishing the rocks or beach. Move your line, takes a minute, big deal, and if I'm on my boat, and I see I might get in the way of a beach rat, I change my course accordingly.

To you beach rats who get mad when a boat clips your line, smile to yourself, that 15 lb. class line can do big time damage to a boats running gear, eats away at your cutlass bearing real good, so aside from being just a nice guy, there are other reasons I move.

Tight lines,
Matt

Tonight was a perfect example

Makomatt you said,Move your line, takes a minute, big deal.
How do I move my line with a fish on?
Tonight was a prime Ex.to what I am talking about,I try to avoid the heavy boat traffic so I move a bit,I hook into a 12-15lb fish,& here comes a boat.Try reelin in a fish once he gets in the rip, flashing my headlamp, while the fish is pulling drag, lucky for me the guy woke up once I started yelling & backed off,(I thanked him)Fish was released unharmed.

Doughboy you frequently visit the place I am talking about,I'm sure you know where they are.On the boat I am a bait guy yes,but in the surf I stick to the plugs(99% of the time)
Tonight I found out was some sought of hunting & fishing club's TX,Thats why the traffic was so bad.13 boats.& all of them wanted to fish were I was.Tommorrow night should be a good night.
