What about Atlantic Highlands?

If you are in North Jersey, you may find it easier and quicker to go to Atlantic Highlands. It is exit 117 of the GSP. Angler and Sea Tiger are both good daytime fluke boats. Captain Dan does the night bass fishing on the Angler and he is outstanding.

I have never been on the boat, but I have heard a lot of good things about the Seahorse. He runs a 3/4 day trip in the morning and a 3:30-8:30 fluke trip in the afternoon. Like I said, i have never been on the boat but I have had several guys who have fished out of Atl Hghlnds for years tell me good things about it.

There is a new boat in Perth Amboy, too, the Seahawk. Never been on it but i hear they catch fish.

Nothing against any of the boats that were mentioned, i am sure they are great boats. Atlantic Highlands is probably a lot closer then Sheepshead Bay for you, though.
SeaHawk might be slow...

But the guy knows how to fluke. I went out on 7/3 for the 3:30-8:30 trip. Nice clean boat, good mates, the captain is a real nice guy. He is very young, cant be much older than 30. I had 17 fish, 6 were over 17 inches...2 keepers. The guy put us on fish, it isnt his fault they were small.

He'll get more of my money.
SeaHawk is $40 for the 3:30-8:30 trip and I think his 7:30-2:30 trip is $50. I fish the Sea Tiger II quite a bit out of Atlantic Highlands and he is $38 for a half day trip, 8:00-12:30 and 1:30 to 6:00. The rate doesnt changed based on fishing the bay or the ocean to the best of my knoweledge.

Fluking has been pretty good in Raritan Bay. I went out Sunday morning on the Sea Tiger II and there were 4-5 guys livelining herring off the stern and they were killing them. Biggest fish went about 7-8 lbs and they had another half dozen between 3-6 lbs. I think I had 15 fish...only problem was no keepers. Bottom line, the fluke are here.
