I fish the river quite often altho I don't venture up into the bay too far. Pierce Island launch is tough loading due to the fast current. Not all that bad if 2 or more guys . The Elliot Maine ramp is just great. I can handle my 19 ft center console by myself It's nice when I take the wife out from time to time. You can forget the Dover Point ramp sue to low low low tides. Can't load at low tide.... As for more productive fishing....Anywhere on the river is good fishing. With a 17ft CC, Have you ventured out to IOS yet?? Nice fishing there too!!I spend most of my time out there... good luck!!!Keep us posted, OK???

Capt., Live bait usually isn't a problem at the IOS. If no macks, pollack. I now have a 19 CC but have been out in my 15ft bowrider lots of times. Little iffy at times but watch the weather carefully & you would be alright. It's only a 20 mimute ride. Sudden change of wind direction is a "heads up", especially if it comes from the East. I have seen boats a lot smaller that 17 out there. Striper activity is usually great there. Keep in touch!! good luck!!
