I don't know if any of those living in New York that experience this mosquito spraying.

It's killing the baitfish which, in turn leaves the game fish no reason to be in the area.

I've talked to others about this, and it seems my speculation is true. I've also noticed that an area in long island was petitioning this recently for the same reason.

Last two years the fishing was attrocious along the surf on staten island. Meanwhile in new jersey where there was no spraying i've heard fantastic things....Really is it worth destroying the ecosystem? If its toxic to fish its got to be toxic to everything including us. They have to think of a better way to resolve this.

My research is....

http://armm.freeyellow.com/fishKill.html

"Officials now admit that the pesticides, particularly Malathion, sprayed over the whole city supposedly to stop msoquitoes from infecting people with West Nile encephalitis, were involved in the mass death of the fish."

http://www.ghorganics.com/West Nile Virus Part 2.htm

OOOOrr...

"In general, spraying can kill fish and other natural mosquito predators, and repeated spraying can produce pesticide-resistant mosquitoes.[3]"

Secondly, the west nile virus only kills those with extremely weak immune systems...if your not over 70 years old, or an aids patient, worst thing that will happen will be a fever and flu like symptoms.

SJ,
I don't think asking for some substance instead of hysterical statements is "Jumping Down Someones Throat"
Citing web articles is not proof, you can find articles that include "Why Smoking Is Good for You" if you try. Having worked in public policy; one well written, documented letter,is worth 10,000 signatures on a immeasurable petetion.

My mistake.

The article was taken from the staten island advance, not only the internet. Anyway, im positive this kills fish,it only baffles me that you guys dont know this.

Its been on the news etc.

People who said fishing had been great on staten island was refering to prior to the spraying, or fishing really far offshore. The fishing is still good here, however once they spray its all over.
