What would you get

My computer is about reached it's max on the upgrades, and to do anything further would require changing the motheboard to upgrade to a Duo-Core processor. By the time I get a good motherboard, video card, max out on the memory I'd be in the $500 to $700 range for a decent fast computer. And thats not counting if I go with Vista...........add another couple $$$ to that.

It doesn't pay to build your own anymore, sure, you'll get what you want, but at a price...........

If you could wait a bit the intel stuff will drop in price when the 45 nano stuff comes out.
I built a gaming computer in 2000. Top of the line stuff and I would have to go to another MB and VC and RAM anad and........

I think I would go with a lap top next time around....wireless so can use it any where around the house....As I write this one of my three HD is making a fuss..Also getting rid of the jet sounding cooling system would be a plus! BTW stick with xp for a while.

Head to Best Buy and check out the emachine tower. They are hard to beat for the price. This is my second one and I bought one for my mother in law and have never had a problem with them.

All the parts are not listed. And I do not suggest that system ...I repeat I do not suggest that system for NE SURF

that system will be built for gaming and some video stuff.
Cany by the time I'm done it will cost around 1500 with all the hardware I want. Thats why I do not suggest it. If I was going to build a PC to surf the internet it would cost me 500-600 BUTTTTT you could buy a Dell right now with a 19" LCD AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 320GB Serial ATA hard drive, DVD burner, and Windows Vista Home Premium for $599
HP, Dell and most of the other big boys are all on the same par right now.

i've done well with my last two Dells, and if you call them up and tell them you are a member of the American Legion (no proff required) you get to participate in their employee pricing program which saved me 20% off their already "discounted" pricing. Worth a phone call.....

Take a look at UBID.com. The Mfgs sell off their refurbs on there are some really good prices. Bouth my last two 'puters from that site for about 1/2 of what they were going for in the stores.

I am very computer illiterate and had help picking it out.
I will be using it as my only computer and will use a Verizonwireless Aircard.
This will enable me to pick up a secure signal anywhere my cell phone works.

I will be taking it to work and will not have to rely on anyone to get online. (which has been a problem)

Will also be traveling with it.

Has anyone here used an Aircard by Verizonwireless?

1DS...your set up looks pretty good. I like the XP option. But Im a little concerned with WMP10 cause that does not play nice with XP. Just keep an eye on that.
