At first I was thinking glory hole - mud hole area. Then I heard some people caught at the rockpiles / virginia area...Im unsure of where to fish. Any thoughts fellas?

I'd love to go But I'm heading out to a wedding right now. I don't think I have enough time to get all my stuff together and your out of Fire Island Inlet? If I had known...
I fished the rock piles july 31st and posted a report. temp was 76.5 and water a nice blue. we caught and released 3 hammerheads. I think the temp is still a little high for mako and thresher. We did have a great trip since it was the first hammerhead we ever caught.
Head to the Virginia area and east. Do a little trolling for bluefin at day break and switch over for a shark drift later in the morning. Canyon bound for an overnighter 8/5 into 8/6. Will report back the details
I decided based upon surface temp images that n/e of the yankee/Linda area was the place to go. I was right. set up shop in 120ft of water at 7:30am. Total for the day was: 6 mako's up to 90lbs (all released)and 2 medium sized blue dogs for the day.
Water was clean green and 72-73 degrees (which was the coolest I could find anywhere) Almost all fish were caught on bunker Except for the first fish of the day (mako) which was on a bluefish filet, and the last fish (also a mako) which was on a mackrel...That fish hit as we were reeling in to switch the bait to a bunker.
MACKS...tried calling you on the radio several times but couldnt get ya. Maybe too far away?
We didnt have the MONSTER we were looking for but made up for it with tons of action and a beautiful day on the water.
We tryed to get you on the radio also, glad to hear you had a good day,we had fun with a couple of small fish,I know the water temp was to warm where we set up,74 was the coolest I could find.
Stopped at the Virginia on Saturday on the way to the Canyon. Needed to dump some fuel. While there, there was life everywhere! Tons of what looked like tinker mackrel busting all over the place. Had a big ole Basking Shark cruising around too. Marked bait on the recorder too. Definately had life on Sat...but of course all that can change in a day!
