Great catch and pics Shadrap.

My vote is for Kensico as well. Those are about the size I usually get there. I heard about an 11# this past spring.

Looks like you may have had a bait rod out, but judging by the spoon in the corner of the fishes mouth I'd say artificials were put to work that day too.

SHOULDA READ THIS FIRST HUH?

Well, the big tractor parked where I usually park scared me to the Rye side...

Did really good in the rain on Sat. Got 8 with four keepers.. Sunday morning was alright, banged a keeper and a HUGE pickeral right at sunrise..the rest of the day was a waste..

Nothing like leaving a couple hundred dollers worth of Krocs on the bottom to kick off the winter..OOOofffffaaaaaaa....

Silver and blue, Silver and Orange, plain silver. Surprisingly, Little Cleos where better then Krocs..

I hear ya Crash ,I went Sunday. Lots of spoons go down in Kensico. My steelhead rod jigged one to many jigs, it snap on the 2nd eye, offffaaaaaaa,,,LOL. It was time for a new spoon chucker anyway. No fish on the dam side, windy, you were better off on Harrison side.

Losing Spoons

Hey Crash and Shadrap,

I got a quick question (possibly dumb). Not trying to insult anyone here...Do you guys change the treble to a single hook on the krocs? Lots less lost in general, but you're able to bounce them bakwards 90% of the time if you open the bail, hold the line, pull tight like a bow and let go of the line.

It doesn't always work, but it's worth a shot for whatever they're going for these days ($$$). I switched over to making my own spoons ($.70 apiece) a couple of years ago and save myself a small fortune each year.

Sounds like you had a pretty good weekend Crash...congrats! Maybe next time right Shadrap? At least that's how I rationalize it to myself. hehe

We need a lot of cold before we start talking about ice again gents!!!!!!!!!

Single hooks

Yeah, I hear ya. I usually switch to the single hook.

Lemme see, I bounced one off a tree and the leader parted. I had the line wrap around the tip and sent one waaaaaaaaay out there. Didn't watch the backcast and had one snap, fly in the air, hang in a tree, then fall in the water, just outta reach. if theres a way to loose em, I loose em..

When I do snag up, then best thing is not to yank, but flip it back so it knocks itself out, sometimes it works, sometimes it dosn't.

I find the Cleo's stay outta the rocks better.

Deja Vu....?

I'm beginning to wonder if we'll get ice this year. As of last night skim ice was covering most of Amawalk and Muscoot again. But this weather pattern is sure to delay us all over again. Temps in the 50's? with rain? Looks like those Kensico Lakers might get hammered for a little while longer. Tight Lines.
