Took a nice long ride this morning............

Went to Marcus Dairy for breakfast around 7:30, then took a scooter ride down to check the boat.......
.............still floatin........

Then off to the beach and then a nice ride to Gallahers Estate in Wilton.

Back in the day, Gallahers was the place to hang............

It's name has since been changed to Cranbury Park

It was hippy paradise..........cars, music, beers, smokes ;)....and frisbies........

We used to all go into the monkey tree which acted as our smoking room.........

Somewhere way up the tree were our initials.............but I wasn't going to try to climb back up there now......
.....

From there we'd wander out into the fields and well, :rolleyes:if we could still stand,...
....throw the frisbie. There were always plenty of people and frisbies around........

We were a bit surprized to find not much has changed at all...

Frisbies were still flyini, but now there is a 18 pole frisbie golf course.
T-off spots and toss the frisbie down field into a pole with chain nets........

And of course it was very busy and the fresh aroma of....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.......well.........fresh cut grass;)...was in the air

Made me wanna run back into the monkey tree..........

Ahhhhhhhhh............the good ol days.............
:
tu:

I may have to go buy a new frisbie............
;)

Pic 1 - - The Monkey tree.........

Pic 2,3 4, 5, - - Inside the monkey tree........

WAY COOL!!!!! Too bad you were too old, to climb up and find your intitials.

Did you help with the grass cutting?

Old memories, and returns to old places are always fun, but they always look smaller to me.

Thanks for sharing G!!!!

Good ol days

Kensico Dam Plaza used to be like exactly that on the weekends, it was insane. County cops used to ride dirt bikes out of the woods to catch teenagers drinking and smoking.

Beginning of the end was a guy showing off his hot rod, and running over another guy at the Plaza. I think the guy died, but I'm not sure. It has since been completely redone and is more of a family destination now. We used to be able to climb the stones almost 3/4 of the way up the face of the dam, but post 9/11 I think you'd get shot by someone guarding it up top if you tried it now. You can't even drive over the road up there, it's been shut down and 24/7 patrolled.

Yep, the good ol days....

I stood there, looked up and was giving it a thought.........

The place is run as more of a park setting, but the peopl;e that go there are the ones that went there.........

The guy workin the gate house had on a bandana and was sportin more tattoos than skin..........
....he just flagged me right through.

Linc, I did my part to help with disposing of any grass cuttings....
;)

As luck would have it, our boat club outing is held there............

Joe, Is that beer garden still there on the west side of the dam? Used to there for lunch many moons ago when I worked at American Can.

Sadly, the Beer Garden is gone, so is the Damsite Inn next door. They are both now condos. Very fond memories of both places...

Hey, my Mom used to work for American Can on Rte 120.

I lived in Vallhalla for a year and was lucky enough to visit the beer garden

That was one of the coolest places I ever found in the middle of a residential niegborhood.

Had a few good nights at the dam as well.

I managed Arcadian Gardens which is now a food store now I think Stop & Shop, but not too sure

Arcadian Gardens was split up. 1/2 become condos and the other half is the loading dock for S'n'S. They put a good sized wooded area in between. You must have eaten at Koven's Deli and Abatinos when you worked there.

The only thing that pretty much hasn't changed is the Little Spot.
