Today I sold my '96 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I'm sad as ****.
It was an economical decision that I had to do. It only had 57K on it and was in excellent shape but starting to get rust etc underneath. It was either sell it now or never as I could never get as much as I did for it in another year. I needed something bigger to pull the boat and to handle the family. In December I bought an '05 Trailblazer EXT which is the extended version. It's clean as a whistle and only driven part time and in mint shape. It's just not the same. Oh well, that's my story....

I feel your sadness

People who have never owned a cherokee don't understand:confused:

It's A Jeep THING

I was facing the same problem, So I decided to keep it

I just dropped my 98' off at the bodyshop last week.
Having the rott all replaced with factory steal from jeep, any a complete strip repaint.

I saw it the other day, totally striped of every part

Can't wait to get it back.

Cheaper than buying a new truck and I only drive it to fish on the beach or tow the boat.

Hey someday you can get a newer one for yourself

THANKS!!!

If my wife was not a stay at home mom, I definitely would have kept it!! Like I said it was a sound financial decision, not 1 from the Heart!!!

JEEP thing

I still have my '89 Wrangler. Over 200k. I just spent about 10 hours on my back removing the transfer case, transmission and clutch to change a bad hydraulic throwout bearing cylinder. Funny, it was a lot easier to do this when I was in my 20s. I have rebuilt the engine, done a ton of body work, and repainted her. All myself. Now, I have to go outside and fix the drivers side door handle. Next, I have to fix the dashboard since some POS busted through the passenger side window in an attempt to steal my cheap $100 radio last March.

I know how you feel. I just can't part with this thing.

MTB, uhhh, are you subscriber??

I traded in my Jeep in 2003, and I still miss it. I only got rid of it because the 4X4 crapped out. Well that and it was burning 2 quarts of oil a week. I've got a Nissan Pathfinder now, and while it's a **** of a lot more reliable, it just doesn't have the power of off road ability of my Cherokee. It was a 1995, which I bought in 1997 with 27,000 miles. When I traded it in, it had 147,000. I got plenty out of it.

Ha ha! You must know how that goes! Getting everything down with gravity on my side was a piece of cake. Balancing this thing on a floor jack, getting the input shaft lined up with the pilot bearing ect was interesting. Worked by myself. Had someone watching, but was better with one set of hands on the thing. I used a floor jack, two cinder blocks, a crow bar, and several blocks of wood to keep it in position. A couple of really long bolts and I jacked the thing into position.

The last time I did this job, about 6 years ago, I did it at a friend's shop down in New Jersey. On a lift, with a proper transmision jack, it still took about 5 hours. (No back ache however)

2 hours??

Next time, you got the job. I had to remove the exhaust pipe into the cat converter from the exhaust manifold. Undercarriage, spedo cable, tranny and transfer case vents, wires for backup light and 4wd stuff, disconnect two drive shaft u-joints, take the fluids out of both, blah blah blah.

You know I still enjoyed doing it. Now someone pass the Bengay.

Just unbolt exhaust from manifold no need to take it out of cat then it drops down and gives you plenty of room to drop unit down

first, I try to analyze the post and (especially) the attached image....then I look at the avatar and it all begins to make sense.

I'm with you, Tim. apparently ChinaCat doesn't mind being dissed by someone he barely knows. MTB specializes in abrasive comments and picture...pathology unknown

A few years back(95-96) when the Impala SS first came out I was up in Conn. at a exit off I-95 and this guy had a same model year Caprice wagon. It was shortened to a two door with if I remember a 454, SSrims and black paint, what a cool ride he had
