The Frances Fleet caught many albacore on 09-11/09-12 trip, but they were mostly caught on troll.
There were reports that some got yft on 100 square in Hudson Canyons though others had very slow fishing there and some bluefin showed up around Bacardi wrecks.

re: fishing report

Went out on the Gambler Saturday nite into sunday. The fishing was extremely slooooow. Only two Tuna and one sword hookup lost at boatside maybe 150 lber, last stop saved the day for a few with some nice size Mahi. The boat was very nice and the crew was knowledgable and freindly. So a nice nite on the water and hopefully things get better. Tight Lines Bob

Thanks for the report, Bob.
It is said the main body of yft are 500 miles away. This is the first year I can remember canyon tuna fishing is SOOOOO SLOW in September. Fortunately inshore bluefin are still biting.

Kil,

Most of the action down here in NC with the Tuna is out of Oregon Inlet. Most fish are on the small side, little footbals with a hand full of bigger fish but nothing to rite home about. Down in Hatteras it all small mahi and hoo's. Both place's on the OBX are seingthere share of sails and whites as well. Morehead city / Atlantic Beach is starting to see some decent Wahoo staring to show as well as tons of small bailer Mahi and a few sails. As for south of AB/MHC it's a long run to the stream for what there catching. Hopefully you guys see a few YFT this fall, maybe a late season bite. Can't be any worse than our YFT season down here, could count on one hand how many fish hit the dock. I have to work 5 canyon overnighters next week in Cape May hoping to see something. Ken
