Project Director, Ending Overfishing in New England

The Pew Charitable Trusts is beginning a search for a project director
for the Ending Overfishing in New England project, a Trusts Operated
Project based in New England. The project director will develop and
implement strategic and operational plans for the project and oversee
and coordinate all aspects of the project, including: helping to
recruit and supervise other project staff and consultants; representing
Pew to stakeholders, decision-makers and the public and; initiating and
maintaining relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders involved
in and affected by New England marine fishery management. This position
will be hired for an initial three-year period, through January 2011,
and the position may be renewed depending on the initiative?s progress.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of ten years experience in
the conservation arena which includes implementing advocacy campaigns
aimed at solving conservation problems. The successful candidate will
also have demonstrated strong analytical skills including the ability to
synthesize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the
essence of an issue or problem; excellent oral and written
communications skills; strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills;
seasoned judgment with the ability to justify recommendations and make
decisions; and the ability to set short- and long-term planning goals in
line with project strategy and implement action plans to accomplish
these goals.
