thanks for the opinions on launching. the right thing to do is to get a new trailer. i've been pricing and for around $600 i can get a v-bunk where the boat will sit just above the fenders and for $1,100 i can get a trailer that sits lower between the fenders. obviously i'd like to spend only $600. either way it will be A LOT lower than it is now. what do you guys think?

TRAILERS

There's no problem with the boat sitting above the fenders(usually) as long as the cross members are kind of V shaped and you have good roller system. I have a 16' Privateer and I HAD a float on trailer, some times I had to sink the truck wheels in the water to get the boat on or off. I completely ruined my rear bumber from the salt(and I ALWAYS) hosed it off. I got disgusted and bought a Loadrite trailer ($900.00) no problem since. When it comes to trailers buy something decent, not a cheapo charlie model. Also make sure it will hold the boat, motor and all your gear. Go up in towing weight NOT down. Also get bearing buddies and a spare tire and jack that will work on your trailer!
Good luck!
