I'm in the market for my first Japanese style jigging blank for BFT fishing in Cape Cod Bay. I'm thinking to wrap the rod spinning, and match with Saragosa 18000.

I'm considering Hopper 4'10" 80-200LB 400g model, as well as OTI 600g and GUSA P-URJ 500 (300-500g). I'm leaning towards Hopper. Do you think the blank might suit my needs?

As I look at the catalog, the blank is rated for "Casting", while other models have casting and spinning models at the same (or similar) spec. Would rapping what's rated for casting into the spinning cause any disadvantage in fishing ability of the rod?

i would recommend the OTI out of the models you listed.

I have the 500g hopper (conventional) and would be willing to sell it if you like. Obviously if you want to wrap your own this wont help.i agree:)

Hopper blanks are parabolic and good blanks for the money.
The tip is a little thick, but the blank is very light. Some guys like to light tip as they like to give some action to jigs with tip and like fast action rods.

Thanks guys.

Bret, I'm going to wrap my rod. But thanks for the offer.

The size of the tip on the 4'10" 400g is same as 5'8" 500g blank. But the lure wt. are different. I wonder if 400g has a lighter action towards the tip section. Or are they both turned on the same mandrels, and cut the butt length differently?

Anybody knows why Hopper distinguish between casting and spinning blanks?
