You're not kidding they're good fishermen(birds - whatever). Kept lookin' around the pool for something to throw at them to scare them off.

Tried "the Pool" this morning from 9 to 1. Got there at extreme high tide & couldn't get into the pool for the first hour or so. Tried casting from the entrance. Nothing outside of the pool. Finally made it into the pool as the tide began going out.
Started out tossing artifical worms on a worm harness & a couple of split shot along the bottom. No takers.
Added a float to the line to keep the bait off of the bottom - that did it. 2 trout to 14 inches & a handful of perch. All released.
Had to share the pool with 2 comorants that were having a lot more success then I was. Couldn't believe the amount of perch they were eating.
I think one of the comorants was after the same perch I was but I beat him to it. As soon as the perch was hooked - the comorant surfaced right behind my line. Take that my fine feathered friend.
Got to recommend the Berkley worms. They're not the soft plastic type. Called Berkely PowerNaturals (Brown Earthworms). Look & behave like the real thing - good substitute when you can't get the real thing. I actually thought they were real worms when I bought them. It wasn't until I got them out of the jar that I realized they were imitations. Little pricy ($3.75 for a small jar).
The water was very cold - heated socks helped tremendously. The Pool had little or no ice to speak of.
Well that outing certainly put the cabin fever at bay.
But - do they hang out in trees??
