I was looking at "the professional's" latest report and decided that I had to post about my weekend, even if it was two days late because I haven't had any time to write. A quote from TP's October 23 report..."We got out and took a nice long walk along the beach, you could just feel the emptiness of the ocean, barren of life." It is one of my all time favorite quote's from TP. Back to this past weekend... I was out on Saturday. Got in the water after brake problems/repairs on my truck ruined my planned 9:00 arrival on the water. Dropped my boat in the drink at 2:45. Fished the west side of the harbor for about 20 minutes or so. Nothing doing. Looked to the east and saw many many birds working a gigantic school of fish between the jetty at Morgan's and the Glen Cove boat launch where I normally launch from. Pulled across the harbor and proceeded to land between 40 and 50 fish in under an hour. All stripers in the 20-26 inch range. Many double headers with one coming on the main lure, and one on the teaser. Tried getting under the school in pursuit of larger fish but was unable to get past the marauding schoolies. Pulled in at 4:00 because my girl had to go home. Sunday. Got in the water about 10:30 or so. Pulled out into the middle of the harbor and found a small group of birds working. Landed 7 fish on my first 5 casts. (2 doubles)Pulled over by the barges and landed roughly 20 more bass in about 30 minutes. Fish were hitting the lures as soon as the touched the water. Called surfacestrike and picked him up for some comical fishing. My finder had no room for water as it was completely, and I mean completely, covered with fish. I'd estimate I had between 60 and 80 bass on Sunday and surfacestrike probably had 40-50 fish. All bass. We both had a couple of biteoffs, possibly blues mixing in with the linesiders. Now with the above report being an honest and accurate one, surfacestrike can attest to this, I have to ask, is it really over Capt. Matt???? Tight lines everyone. And if it really is over, I hope to meet some of you out there in the spring. <like href="http://www.noreast.com/postedreports/view.cfm?id=61898" send="false" show_faces="false" width='layout="button_count"'></like> |
