I'm still looking for a used 25 foot walk around. My number one choice is a Hydra-Sports 2500 or 2550. I'd also be interested in Grady's with Sea-V2 hulls,Mako's, Pursuits, ans Sea-Ox Blue Water pros (also really nice!).

I'm looking to spend in the 25-30K, so I know they're going to be older hulls, but the sh!t people are selling is rediculous. What people call excellent condition is appauling.

If anyone comes across a decent boat to look at, please pass it on to me, I'd be much indebted.

when jack and i were looking for our latest scow, finding lots of corroded long island boats that were overpriced

we focused our search up state near the fresh water lakes, finger lakes, lake george, hudson river. looked on the internet for classified sections of upstate newspapers, lots phone calls, pics emailed, one long drive to penn yan ny

end result was really nice old boat at a good price that we got from an old farmer dude

between never being exposed to corrosive saltwater and the depressed upstate economy it's worth a look up there for a good boat at a good price

for 1700 bucks and a 8 hour drive (one way) we got a clean 17ft boat, fresh powerhead 80hp merc, 7.5 hp merc kicker, clean trialer with new electric winch, fishfinder, lifevests, anchor

and unlike the past saltwater boats i have had, no corroded wires at all, gas tanks that are not leakey and rusted

worth a look if your spending 30k, call some of the bigger dealerships upstate, they email pictures to you

Have you tried www.boats4sale.com?
Don't know where you are located - but boats4sale.com covers Long Island, Westchester, and the rest of metro New York. Some of the boats are offered for sale by dealers, others are being offered by private individuals.

Here's some stuff I found:
2000 Hydrasports 23' with 200 Evinrude, $35,000;
1988 Sea Ox 26' with Twin Merc I/Os $24,000;
1986 Grady White 25' with 2001 t/150 hp Yamaha saltwater series O/Bs, 2 year full warr. Hard top, elecs. $37500.

There were plenty of other Gradys in all shapes and sizes.

Whatever you do, be sure to hire a surveyor!!!!! Some older boats (80s and 90s) have been known to experience transom rot and stringer rot. I have heard of this being a problem in 80s Gradys.

Good luck, be patient, and be prepared to wade through some junk. Remember, it's a buyer's market!!

Scott, i have a 1984 Grady Trophy for sale. Boat is in excellent condition, 1993 electronics,(radar, loran, ff,all furuno) '93 twin 305 merc's w/ approx. 700 hours. less $$ than you're talking.

why are you selling you're walkaround to get another one?
