I was there from 12/26-1/2 and stayed in Key Colony Beach which is south of where you are by about 28 miles. Fishing was great! Fished the gulf one day, Spanish mackeral, 3 Cobia, Blacktip sharkthat broke off and 1 breakoff that was probably a large grouper. Devil Rays jumping about 8 ft. out of the water, what a sight. Everything was on light tackle, mackeral were on Penn 4500 spiner, what a blast for my 10 year old. Dad handled the Cobia which where in the 35-40 pound range.
Another fast trip on the ocean side on the reef and did ok, 1 keeper grouper and lots of grunts. This was a spur of the moment trip only for 2-3 hours.
All in all was probably one of the best trips we had.

Hey Stiper,
I would book online and use the promo flight. Fiy on M,T or Sat. Leave McAthur at 650 am 1 stop in Orlando and layover for 45 minutes. Arrive in Fort Lauderdalr at 12. Return on 4:15 flight nonstop to McArthur. $ 116 rounf trip. Leave and reutrm before 2/28 I think the promo is good for. Lots or websites for info. Fly cheap but hold onto your socks for lodging. What ever it is go for it you won't be dissappointed.
