I have not been on a one day trip on that boat because it is just too far for me to drive for just one day of fishing. However, I am sure that you will not be disappointed with the fishing. From what I understand, those trips are open bottom fishing so bring jigs in the 12 - 24 ounce range and fish a large curly tail teaser above the jig. You'll have much less aggrevation from the doggies if you use jigs instead of bait. Let us know how you do.

The Helen-H is an awesome trip that every cod fan has to do at least one a year. The key is to go prepared. Bring an assortment of jigs from 10-20 oz. I like Crippled Herrings the best with big diamonds a close second. They both sink faster and dodge the current better that the viking jigs that most people use. Also bring an assortment of teasers. I like curlytails and shrimp shaped ones. All colors work well at times but blue is a killer. Hardly anyone uses blue but after an hour of slamming fish people beg me to share. Most importantly, take the time to plan the trip the right way for maximum enjoyment. Drive up the night before and get some sleep at a motel so you are rested. It makes all the difference in the world. Let me know how you do.
