"du-bro" makes the "ez twister" tool. for making the perfect haywire twist.
but if you practice {alot}you can do them buy hand.
its not that hard!
you should be able to twist a haywire in bluefish wire without the tool .
to practice. try wrapping the wire around a screwdriver or something of the sort. and make sure both of the ends of the wire are bending at 45 degree angles from each other. not one wraping around the other.squeeze very tight and work slow {working fast only heats up the wire}when you have three full 45 degree wraps bend the tag end at 90 degrees and make three tight barell wraps.when your done break off the end

It is worth every cent!

That haywire tool costs around $20 and is worth every penny! It makes a perfect haywire everytime ~ and saves your fingers for another day! Not only that, it saves a great deal of time too!

Thanks Guys. That EZ Twist does work well, but what I was looking for was something I saw years ago. It was a small device mounted on a small piece of wood. You would put the hook in it and then the wire. Then you would turn the handle and it would do the twists. You could turn out 100 hooks in no time. And your fingers would be fine. Anyone else know about this? Thanks.

Bandit - I'm wondering; why do you want to use the solid wire for blues? The coated steel leader spools & crimps work pretty **** well, are cheap & easy. I've seen them up to 60 lb, but they probably make even greater. This is also without the draw back of worrying about kinks. Basicly it's just a cheap way to bang out a zillion custom steel leaders.
