A few weeks ago we got a letter from seanote about this very topic so we stopped allowing people to post or sign up with spaces in their name (so no one will ever post as "sea note" again). Recently we restricted names to only letters and numbers (so no one can post or sign up as "sea-note" or "sea.note" or "-seanote" either).

A little Computer Science lesson:

Programming a computer to check if a name contains a character which is not a letter or a number is very easy.

Programming a computer to make sure a name is not already in the database, also easy.

Programming a computer to decide whether 2 names sound similar to eachother is significantly more complicated.

If anyone wants me to go in to more detail, I'd love to describe in detail the algorithms that would be involved, but for now I'll just say "it's not gunna happen."

Sorry, NiteCaster. I figured you were probably just joking around, but i also wanted to address the issue you brought up in case anybody was wondering about that. I certainly didn't mean to insult your intelligence.
