After getting pumped at the Big Bass show I realized I have to get more serious with location, location location from the surf. So because I do not have night vision can anyone reccomend a good hand held GPS and why they like it?

I have tried a few but the Garmin map76 is the easiest for me.

MB, I'm curious. Did you buy the others and find they were'nt right for you and returned them or did you check them out in the store and made your decision that way?

Surface - have only tried one - GPS 76 -I didnt think the GPS Map 76 was worth the extra $$. The 76 is a small unit, but has a big display. i think it is one of the biggest displays in its class. I looked at other models, but their display was too small, especially when bouncing around at night, etc. I also bought the mounting bracket for it (approx$20) which i use when on my boat. Also i feel u cant go wrong with a Garmin....Good luck

I've never used a hand held but I would think that for surf fishing purposes, the least expensive one that simply prints out the longtitude and latitude numbers with the biggest print would be all that you would need, especially at nighttime.
