Went out for an early inshore troll. Got to the HA around 6am and saw dolphins flying around everywhere, jumping out of the water and getting the **** out of dodge real fast. Then we saw why, Jaws. Big shark on the surface. I couldn't get a good look at him though b/c he dove down. The dorsal fin to the tail fin had to be at least 7 or 8ft. Put the lines in though wasn't much hope of catching anything with the big shark around but figured why not. trolled around the HA for a few laps then headed towards the area between the Glory and Mudhole as it looked like that is where the temp break was. A mile south of the HA we get the lightest hit I've ever gotten on a superbar I had out, turned out to be about a 1lb mahi. Smallest little thing. After that trolled the flats area north of the glory, into the hole, back towards the mudhole, etc. Nothing. Had porpoise around us. Other guys had some bluefish and had flying fish around them but not tuna.

I did about same thing yesterday, we started at the HA about an hour or two after you were there and picked up 5 peanut Mahi and a decent size trigger. We saw some larger Mahi, probably 8 - 10 lbs but couldn't get them to take the bait. It looked sharky, I caught a large Blue Runner and was thinking of putting him down on the shark rod but didn't have time to mess around with that.

Got on the troll down by the Glory Hole there were dozens of boats working the area that seemed to be following each other around, they were generally working toward the west. I went the other way and followed that red dragger along the pot line down toward Chicken Canyon. Water temp went up gradually from 74 up to 76 near the north part of Chicken canyon, water turned a little clearer blue/green but no real break or signs of life, that was it. Long wet ride home with the beam/quartering sea.

I buzzed by a lot of pots down in the Glory Hole but didn't see or catch any more Mahi but we didn't stop to throw chunks. Did anyone get any down there?
