After a long vacation with the family I was anxious to get back to surf fishing here on Long Island. We don't always realize how good we have it out here when it comes to fishing (especially surf fishing)! I went out last night from 12:30pm - 3:30am and fished the ebb tide. With very little wind the bugs were there to greet me!! Saw quite a bit of spearing. During the day when I did some scouting I found a lot of peanut bunker as well. Fishing was slow. I had one schoolie and when I switched to a darter I hooked into a very nice fish (felt like an upper teen size bass) but then he spit the hook! Oh well - it was fun to get back in the game! On my walk back I filled up a garbage bag with garbage and debris that washed ashore. I also hauled out the tire seen below. I want to encourage more of you to take in a bag and remove garbage once in a while. If people see you doing it hopefully more people will follow your example. Pics below of my lasy day of fishing a dam in Minnesota. Check out the nice 4.5 lb small mouth bass - they put up a nice fight. The other fish is a catfish. <like href="http://www.noreast.com/postedreports/view.cfm?id=89619" send="false" show_faces="false" width='layout="button_count"'></like> |
