Well with winter coming to a close hopefully soon. I thought a topic like this would help us start thinking on new things we all would like to try and improve our catch ratio.
A good example I?ll start with is a neat little trick for flounder rigs. I make my rigs with 2 leadered flounder hooks what ever your preferences of size and shape. But what I find to help greatly is using a baggie tie wrap in white or yellow to keep the hooks separated. This has worked well for me over the years and if you look below you will see the rig or 1 of the rigs I use. Now I would love to hear some good ideas from others with good creativity. Even using house hold items, or other strange things that have truly worked for you in the past.

Sponge Worthy

Sometimes we need that extra edge to put a catch together. Here's a little trick that I started using in the mid 90's to increase both my winter flounder and striper catch. I'll go to an auto parts store and buy a natural sponge-the type used to wash cars. The night before my trip, I'll soak the sponge in clam juice. When I load my chum pots I'll sandwich the sponge between crushed clams, mussels of whatever chum I'm using. I feel that the current carries the scent of the clam further back in the water & thus draws flounders from further away. After 20-30 minutes (depending on the strenght of the tide) I'll resoak the sponge and repeat the process. I've used the same technique for chunking bass either using clam juice or bunker oil.

Might sound crazy, but to me it seems to work.
