Parkers are beasts of burden. Huge ****pits and very simple designs, but built rock solid.

Grady's a a top tier builder, and you will get a lot more finish and features.

The Grady's are more family friendly, and the Parker is definitely a fisherman's boat.

But I can't see how you would go wrong with either as long as it has the power you are looking for and the fuel capacity to go where you want.

It's kind of like comparing an F250 to an escalade.

what will be the main use of the boat 70% of the time?

I happen to agree with Chris. I like the deep vee ride better.
I think the the GW ride sucks. But that is just me.
If it's an older model Marlin with the stepped hull aft don't waste your time or money.

I bought a new Parker 25 pilot house at the beginning of the season and love the boat. I agree the layout is simple but it has what it needs for fishing. The pilot house is great for getting out of the weather and back deck has plenty of room to fish from. Parker also has a new 34 foot model

Good Luck !

Long term or short term?

If this is a long term boat, Parker will get the job done for the right price. You can fish the heck out of it and much more fishing room, no 4 foot "eurotransom" included in the claimed size. More boat for the money.

The Grady's are overpriced, surely not the best boats in ride and other things like the 'cored deck plague of the 80's' and tons of silicone all over the place to keep water out of the bilge, but like Harley's, they have a following and command a price. You will always be able to sell the Grady if you fish it lightly and keep it pretty. They don't really age well when heavily fished, Whitewater Marine has been sitting on a few examples of this all summer that they can't move.

If you're looking at the 28 parker, I suggest looking at the 26 steiger. It's got a much better ride and is finished off much better than the parker. It has lots of fish storage with a main fish hold that holds about 700 or 800 pounds of ice and a 60 gallon live well in the back. I looked at the parker and found the Steiger is a much better bang for your buck.

Its not just you...I HAD two grady's never again.........Parker makes a blue-water deep V ..I fish that boat in the Keys nice ride..
When it comes to big outboard boats your not going to get the ride of the same size boat with inboards..

I would look at a 28' Henriques...But thats just me ..
