I just read a post regarding the removal of decals from a hull, good stuff. I have a question regarding the replacement of the removed decals. My buddy just picked up a 1979 20' Grady and the decals are totally faded. He is trying to restore the boat and get it looking it's best, he questioned me about aquiring new decals to replace the faded ones. Does anyone know if you can purchase decals for a Grady this old, and if so where? He's looking for the Grady White name decals along each side of the stern and the boat model decals port and starboard on the cabin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have seen this discussed before. You can try a local sign shop, all they need is a picture of what you want and size. BUT it is copyright infringement, SO you may have some trouble getting it done with some of the shops. And chances are if you can get it done it wont be raised lettering.

Did you try local GW dealer, You may have to settle for a newer style logo. Heard a couple of guys using this dealer below and have gotten what they needed.

I bought a 1980 20' Grady about 7 years ago. The lettering on the sides were faded. I called Eddie's Marine (Grady Dealer). I asked a salesman named Terry(male)if he knew where I could get the lettering for a 1980 204c. The lettering had to be the original color which is red, not blue which is on the newer Grady's. He said he had the lettering & he would send it to me. He said just send the money when I received the package with the lettering & invoice. This guy did not know me from beans & was willing to send them. The lettering comes in 1 strip. Received 2 sets of lettering in a week.
I met him at the boat show in the city & thanked him. I don't know if he is still there.
Priced was less then $20.00 at the time-(1996)

Once the decals are removed, clean with acetone. You will still be able to see the outline from the old decals. Carefully put the new ones over the outline but take your time & rub the decals on with a clean rag to get out the air bubbles you may get.

I just did it! I recently removed the stripes of the sides of the hull and replaced them with new ones. I also removed the old name (they are called hull Logos) and replaced them as well with the new style versions.

Remove the stripes with a heatgun, blowdrier or if the earlier don't work a 3M decal removal wheel attached to a drill or buffing wheel.

The offical Grady Decals, (They are offically called Hull logos) could be purchased from Port Of egypt Marine in Southhold.

Best luck
