Please help. In the summer would like to bring the boat around from the sound to fish a couple of days offshore from Montauk. I have a 24 Osprey Fisherman and should be able to go at least 30-40 miles offshore. Can anyone supply some GPS numbers and tips. Does anybody know how long the ride is from orient point to montauk point? Thanks for your time and effort.

John,
as far as where to fish, you'll be much better off looking at the reports here and asking around out there, when you get there. Things vary from year to year. As for getting there, go through plum gut, from the time you turn into the gut until you get to the jetties should be 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on your speed. Its a nice ride.

John, from Orient Pt. to Montauk Pt, if i remember correctly is roughly over 18 miles, which means at 20 knots, would take you around 55 minutes.

I will see if after the BASH, TOGMASTER, who ran commercial tuna trips for a number of years, would list some tips...try to be specific, in what you want to ask first. Their is so much to know about offshore fishing, that you really could never exhaust this topic......
