staying in brewster you'll want to use The Bait Shack, on the boarder with Orleans on 6A just off exit 12 of the mid-cape highway - the owner is Ed - very down to earth guy happy to share/honest whatever info. he has. Tell him Andrew from CT sent you in. No license needed for the salt (needed for the excellent freshwater also available). It is dog days of summer now, and the last week the beaches have been dead - occasional blues, sparse stripers. Get fresh sand eels (frozen only as a last resort) and throw 'em in the surf on a high-low/pompano rig with about 4oz. both day and night, most consistent bait up there. Nighttime means slingin' live eels as well, daytime the usual tins. Nauset is good, ask ed about where they've been hitting, he may tell you to go up the coast and fish Ballston or Head of the Meadow, or even up to Race Point and Herring Cove - depends what he has heard. I would think the bay may be a little tougher right now from shore with the long flats and therefore warmer water, but again can be very productive after dusk and before dawn. If you get an oversand permit from Orelans ($140) you can drive onto Nauset Beach and head south towards Chatham, otherwise, if you are willing walk North from the parking lot, yes try Gorilla Hole, everybody will tell you about it, but if you can huff it, walk a mile or so up the beach to the inlet, can be very productive drifting eels, even using sluggos. This ought to get you started, hope it helps. (Goose Hummock in Orleans is as pretty as Ed's is shack, but you also pay for it. However, in all fairness, an excellent selection. Blackbeard's in Eastham - not very friendly to "strangers." And, the fishing is always "excellent." <-- just one man's opinion)
