Sooooooooooo - we're fishing Montauk yesterday afternoon and my buddy is pulling bass after bass out of a school of bluefish in Turtle Cove.

Everybody else is catching blues casting poppers, he is fishing a bucktail deep.

Decides to keep one for the table, measuring it against a previously marked spot on his pole. NO BIG DEAL - people like to eat fresh fish.
Runs up to the truck and throws it into a cooler with ice so it won't cook - the right way to do it.

Goes back to fishing - after a few minutes returns to truck to get something and the DEC is waiting. Nice fella - says "Those three guys over there told me you kept a short". Measures fish and its legal.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA WTF?

These guys need to get a life. Same idiots who were getting there poppers bit off by bluefish.

I also thing they were racially biased as my friend has two of his (legal) hispanic workers with him.

What losers.

No beef with the DEC. Just think with a blitz going on people would have better things to do with their time - mebbe like catch a fish. Just thought it was funny.

The guy works hard and doesn't get a lot of time to fish, and has to spend valuable beach time jerking around because of someone else.... not cool.

I would have NO problem with DEC check me anytime. The way I look at it, it's like when someone asks me for my professional credentials while I'm at work. It took me a lot of time and hard work to earn my professional license and I'm happy to show it off. If they don't check to make sure everyone is following the regulations, then it goes unregulated.

And lets' be honest. Didn't it make your friend aven a little happy to show that DEC agent a legal fish.
