The Freeport Tuna Club, FTC, is one of Long Island's oldest, and largest fishing clubs with over 200 members. Established in 1937, it is quite unique it that we own our own marina that was completely renovated this year with all new bulkheading, floating docks, electric, water, & bubble system for year-round boating. This is the nicest, newest private marina on the South shore featuring a remote control gated property, clubhouse, bathrooms, & shower. All this and just minutes from Jones Inlet!!!!!!
But the FTC is much, much more then just the property. Our members come from all walks of life. From professionals, to blue collar, to retires, you name it, our demographic fit no mold other then we are all drawn together because of our passion for fishing. That is the thread that holds us together, and makes for such great comaraderie.
And like our logo says, "we aren't just tuna" We fish for everything, inshore & offshore.
Our members hail from all ports of Long Island, and beyond. From Brooklyn, to the Bayside Marina,.... to Montauk, both North and South shores, we have the Tri-State area covered.
The FTC is also very family oriented with plenty for the kids, with special awards, contests, Santa at Christmas, time, etc.
There is a lot going on at the FTC year round. Too much to mention in this post, but one of the things I would like to tell you about, is our every Thursday night BBQ down at the property. In season, every Thursday evening, usually April through late November, we have a BBQ down at the property. This is known as the captains meeting where members come down to meet and discuss the, "what's happening on the local fishing scene," where the hot bites are, crew up your boat, make plans to crew up on another boat, and just shoot-DA-chit. Our BBQ crew puts together a feast, not just a hamburger and hot-dog thing, but a spread like you would die for. The soda and beer flows and all have a good time. The members pay $8 for the evening, enough to cover the expenses.
All of you however, are invited down for a FREE BBQ this coming Thursday evening. It gives us a chance to show off what is now the finest marina on Long Island, and you can get a chance to see what we are all about in a non-pressure fun evening. You can meet some of the legendary captains, and see all the battlewagons that are lined up in the slips. Gates open at 7:00pm and it usually goes until 9:30 +
So come on down to the Freeport Tuna Club, 275 Hudson Ave, Freeport this Thursday evening.
Hope to meet some of you there!!!!
