The RFA meeting held Wed. 5/7 dealt with fisheries mismanagement and, to a lesser extent, the attacks of the green monsters. The RFA and others explained the hard work necessary, which it certainly was, to get a reasonable NY fluke season open this year. Next year will be another big question as well as the probable decrease in catch limits for porgies and sea bass which, along with fluke, are increasing in mass.
Fact is, if not for the dedicated efforts of a few, the many would probably not have had much of a fluke season this year.

The meeting had limited attendance, a sign of apathy Pew and the other prohibitionists take good advantage of. Just how far can the green's machinery get? At the meeting Fred Golofaro, Mg. Ed. of The Fisherman, made the announcement that Switzerland (which requires much of its citizens to posses arms) had just passed a bann on catch and release fishing.

A cold war wag once said, "I have trouble going to sleep at night when I think about that at the same time over a billion communist party controlled chinese are getting up to go to work".
The apathetic anglers ought to give some thought to the greenies who have over a billion dollars working for them in a hot war.

I attended the meeting last night with Capt. Steve Witthuhn of Top Hook Charters out of Montauk

I thought it was a very informative meeting attended by group of people who are very passionate about fishing, fisheries management and the direction the fishing industry is moving and how we can all make a difference and protect our rights to fish and enjoy the marine resource.

I personally was expecting a larger turnout but this was only the first meeting for the RFA New York Chapter and hopefully at future meetings there will be a larger turnout attended by concerned anglers, fishing clubs/organizations/charter business's.

This meeting was posted in three boards on noreast including this one as well as New York Newsday and The Fisherman. It might have also been mentioned in the NY Post but I am not sure if it made it....

Hopefully you can made the next one:)
