Sunday September 2nd, I decided to head out to the hempstead reef to do a little bottom fishing. I arived at the SW corner in hope of finding some nice size sea bass and porgies. The fishing was dead i covered every inch of the reef for one short fluke and a sea robin. On my last drift on the ne corner I hooked up with a large fish that I was sure was a dogfish when I got it to the surface I noticed it was a huge FLuke when my dad netted it we measured and weighed the doormat. 26 and a half inches and 7 pounds. What A FISH!!!! After that we headed west to the roundhouse for some blues and plugged a half dozen 4lb fish. wwhen we entered the inlet the bonita were going nutz i tried everthing diamond jigs, deadly dicks, crocodiles, bucktails, and 4 inch plug. Nothing was working. They were chasing finger mullet. Does anyone no any lures that can be casted or trolled to catch these speedsters? Will BAIT WORK?
