Hi:

I usually fish the bay side rather than Ft. Tilden so I don't know when the season technically starts...call up either Stella Maris or Bernie's in Brooklyn and ask...I did read on the Internet that about 1 month or so ago there was some sort of clam problem along the whole Ft. Tilden side.

good luck.

Thanks

Thanks for the help mudman, I actually called up Bernies and they said there was some action(stripers) around the jetty on worms, not much on artificials though. Was out there yesturday for some practice(2pm-5pm)--saw one striper caught on clams--about 12".The guy actually asked if it was ok to keep--oh well.It was released after I spoke to him!!!

The Backside

I grew up fishing that area and my advice to you would be to concentrate your efforts in the inlet ....specifically at the "bend" by the red can on an outgoing tide. most years I would start doing well by late april but this year probably won't see any action til beggining of may. The"bend" is a great spot to throw tin or poppers to blues and bass, use a teaser ahead of your lure and be prepared to wade out far on a dropping tide near the red nun bouy. Also same stretch of beach but to the east a little....the flats from the walk on area to the old light house is a great area during higher stages of the tide for bass especially when the sandeels are around. OK now run with it!
