Here it is at http://airmartechnology.com/airmar2005/ex20/RMProducts/ElectCat.asp?ProdID=36&Man=Furuno&PageNo=67

Has anyone else had one installed? Mine is going on my '90 Gulfstream and i have a few questions. Where on your boat was yours installed? Do you get readings above 20-25 knots? Did you notice a big difference when and if you changed to this transducer? Mine is being hooked up to my Furuno 1650f plotter/600w sounder but will eventually be hooked up to a Furuno 1724c Radar/plotter/600w-1k blackbox sounder that i will purchase soon. Any help/tips appreciated.

ALSO....Anyone else have a Furuno 1724C Radar/Plotter? Im brand new to radar and was looking for some tips on what settings to use for gain, sea clutter, precipitation clutter and A/C SEA and stuff like that.

Airmar
Sorry, no personal experience with that xducer, but all i hear are good things about the tilted element airmars. As far as the 1724c, i have that unit on my grover with radar, plotter, and fishfinder, it's a great unit, the radar and fishfinder are top notch, but the plotter is not as great as say an older northstar unit. If i were you i would a few months and look into Navnet 3D, it will be an awesome machine, the best of all 3 in one unit. good luck with your decision.

I like the plotter alot, i didn't mean in anyway that it was bad, but there are better out there, for example the northstar 952, 962, 6001 some feel garmin has the best plotter. The navnet plotter is a little slow on the redrawbut it's not that bad. If you get cmap MAX, the plotter displays a really nice map, it also has embedded pictures
. The navnet 3d should solve all the redraw problems though.

having owned this unit i can say that the radar is EXCELLENT

plotter on the navnet is NOT . slow redraw when changeing scales charts are hard to read even with diffrent color settings. its hard to follow your track line only using your plotter. wait untill 3D comes out of just use it as a radar. i owned it for 2 years and used the plotter once . my old 952 was my main plotter the 6000 or 6100 is also a great unit.

as far as tuneing the nav net its slightly more difficult then a radar with dedicated tuneing knobs but still not hard .
there is no set setting for these. on a windy day you will need more seaclutter and less gain or vice versa. on a slick foggy day you can turn your gain way up and sea clutter down . again there is no set way more trial and error untill you get a good picture where targets dont dissappear inbetween sweeps

also form my expirence the AUTO functions for these are worthless.

I have the B-60 ducer on my 23' Contender.
The best ducer I've ever used. Easy to mount and never looses reading even at high speeds. 50mph +. I went from a transome mount to the B-60.

I agree.

Best option for any transducer is a Thru-hull and this is the best of thru-hulls at 600 watts.

I had a conventionall bronze thru hull on my cat. When it got above a 2 foot chop, at speed, I would get alot of air under my cat hull and lose the sonar reading until I got back in the water and flushed the air bubbles off the face of the conventional thru hull(even with a fairing block). I replaced the conventional 525 TD bronze unit with he B-60 last year and never once lost bottom, even wide open in close to 4 foot waves!. If you are going to get a thru hull, this is your best choice !

I also agree with the comments on the Furuno plotter. I have a NAVNET and Garmin 2010C on my boat. The Furuno plotter is slower and balkier with less detail that the Garmin. I have seen the NAVNET 3D, though. As it's been said, that will be the first unit that has a single manufacturer putting all 3 technologies in the front seat of a multi function system!
