Just a guess but I'm thinking its going to be 19.5inches at 2 fish per person. What they need to do is keep the trawlers from coming so close to shore with their nets down. When recreational boaters arent around they drop their nets to close to shore. They wipe out the entire inlet in one swoop. Doesnt matter what their regs are either there by catch kills everything anyway short fluke, sea bass, stripers, blackfish.

It depends if the ASMFC goes state by state or regional. If its regional it will be 2 or 3 fish @ 19 inches, if its state by state it'll probably be 2 fish at 20 inches for NY and RI, slightly better for NJ and MA and CT should stay about like NY.

I agree with Mike, 2 fish at 20in in NY for us. And I dont think it will be much of a problem finding keepers, last yr there were a **** of alot of 18-19 in fish which should be 20 in this yr

Party boat owners want higher bag limits. That will push the size limit up even more. 3 fish at 21"

Curious as to when they might open the season. In the past regulations were in place from the previous year that would open the season at the stated date and bag limits, etc unless they enacted new regs before the existing date.(which they always did but cut it close)
Since they closed the season on an emergency basis does that mean they don't have as much pressure to pass new regs by a given date?

Actually Crabby, they may push for the longest possible season. I don't know what they'll come up with, but I would guess 2 at 20 inches is in the ball park. Kind of odd that this is happening while there are more fluke than I have ever seen in my lifetime.

I'm just guessing but last year they pushed for 4 fish. The reasoning being that fares feel that the chance to keep more fish outweighs the size limit.

And yes there are more and larger fluke now then I've ever seen before. BTW I'm 56
