Launched the boat Friday. Piled all the loose gear into the truck, (Lifejackets, flares, safety, etc.) to bring down to the boat Sunday AM. Woke up my son and my second mate neighbor to see if they wanted to give flounder a shot on yesterday's incoming. We loaded the boat down a particularly STEEP gangway and made way out of Huntington Harbor around 8:00 AM. Went over to Northport Bay and tried a drift for about 20min. A few pecks here and there. Dropped the hook in about 11', dropped the chum pot/ w clam log. First flattie within the hour and we worked a slow pick over the next hour and a half. Bite died so back into Huntington Harbor set up the same in 16' during the incoming. Three more within a half hour for our three man limit. Smallest was 12.5" with all the others 13.5- 15.25. All on mussel, nothing on worm or clam. One short flounder, about a half a dozen birds and a lone schoolie bass rounded out the catch. Didn't expect these results and happy with the start to the 2012 season. This trip was a real flashback to when I fished flounder as a boy myself, now I remember why I loved it so much! Side bar did see some bunker flapping here and there in N'port Bay. <like href="http://www.noreast.com/postedreports/view.cfm?id=148337" send="false" show_faces="false" width='layout="button_count"'></like> The biggun''s The catch |
