Crazy Al...or anybody else who might know,

I'm planning a trip to the Keys in mid May...Do you suggest Key West, Marathon Islamorada or Key Largo??? Or any other place?? I'm leaning towards Islamorada.

I specifically want some big Tarpon and Permit...any other species would be nice also...but I really want some huge Tarpon.

Also can you recommend any guides???

Also, is it worth it to take a shorter night time trip to target the Tarpon rather than a day time trip???

Check out Marathon

Between now and May, tarpon move into the 7-Mile bridge area. They will move a little further out to the Bahia Honda area. The charters follow them and if you pick the right boat at the right time, it is a 5 minute ride to the grounds. Fishing is good enough that some boats guarantee fish. Avoiding boat traffic is the key so short charters at dawn and dusk are typical.

Yes SkateMaster ir right on go at night if you realy need to get a Silver King.The night fishery is a no miss deal.You may not see the fight as will as in the daytime but a **** of a lot of fun. Best down there. DeLux

The folks in here have given you some sage advises!

Mid May is "the" Month for BIG leaping fishes! If you are seeking the largest of large - Fish at night because those were my best memorable days!

Given that.... Be sure to get plenty of rest during the daylight and concentrate at night!

Concentrate the Marathon and Islamorada areas!!!

Tarpon Watch out

Thanks guys...I'm going to Islamorada from May 14th to May 18th...got a guide for three night time Tarpon trips...Will also fish from a party boat during the day...and feed the pet tarpon by hand. This is going to be awesome!!!
