I am looking to take a trip to the keys this spring and try my hand at flats fishing. Hoping some of you might have a personal recommendations for a guide, species, etc.

Have done an annual trip for the last 12 years but always to the Lauderdale area for freshwater bass. My fishing buddy can't make it this year so I wanted to mix it up this year and do some saltwater. Fly fishing, spinning, conventional are all options. Species????

Fishing the east side of the Keys will put you on the Atlantic side whic is usually deep water real fast.

You would be better off fishing ther Gulf or Back Counrty as they call it

I would suggest posting your question on the Fishing Destinations page.

How far down in the keys are you going, Islmorada, Marathon?

Islamorada, North side?

I thought there is flats fishing north of the keys. Possibly around Islamorada.

Thanks to the other reply but not interested in bottom fishing for grouper, etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply
