I Thought last Saturday was my last chance of my first striper season...well I am happy to say I was wrong. It looks like today 12/7 and two more days opened up for me before 12/15.

I hit what is becoming my favorite jetty today same time I did last time 4:45AM. The conditions were a bit more tricky for me on my own. (Dad couldn't make it with me for this trip)The wind was variable. Started out perfect for this jetty (NNW)But by 6AM a change of the wind (SE=dreaded)I said let me cast this jig into the surf just to see what if anything is out there...

First cast was parallel to the surf, medium retrieve and in close to the beach I had a fish on. Started peeling drag in what felt like a zig zag motion. I said this must be a blue fish. When it took a break I started to reel but I guess my drag was too loose because the fish was still taking drag. Then the line went limp but I could still feel head shaking so I started reeling to tighten my line but he through the hook. My excitement was through the stratosphere now. Next cast I hear the sound of a massive wind knot(still was dark so I couldn't see it)After I got that figured out I was at a fork in the road. I could keep trying with my jigs at this 1FT surf and see if I can land whatever I just lost or get back on the jetty where I know I can land some schoolie's...

I'm striper hungry so I put my 4" shad on and gave the jetty a shot. Nothing for a while. Then a older gentlemen came to fish for schoolies also. I saw him land and keep 6 schoolies using a weighted jig head and something crossed between a green bucktail and a shad. This boiled my blood. I yield too small too small, they have to be 28" to keep! he yield back No english! I now understand why you can only get schoolies there SMH!!! I said to myself even if I only catch one I will not keep it. By this time I guess he had his fill on schoolies because he told me to try there, there is a hole, yesterday I caught 6 of them right there ( in english of course) and then he left stuffing all 6 of them in his backpack. (proof of how small they were)

So I did what any one should do. I got in his spot and sure nuff I landed a 12-15" fish. It was 8:30AM and I had to leave by 8:45 to take my kids to the dentist. (always when I have to leave I a catch a fish smh)I noted the spot in detail into my memory for my next two days I plan on coming back. I guess the schoolies hear ONLY like a 4" shad because nothing else lands them hear.
